On May 8, 2012, the Cyber Alert Level was evaluated and is remaining at Blue (Guarded) due to multiple vulnerabilities in Microsoft, PHP, and Adobe products. The alert level Blue/Guarded indicates a general risk of increased hacking, virus or other malicious activity. The potential exists for malicious cyber activities, but no known exploits have been identified, or known exploits have been identified but no significant impact has occurred. On May 8, 2012, Microsoft released seven bulletins for vulnerabilities in several of their products. The MS-ISAC issued five advisories for vulnerabilities in multiple Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Windows, Silverlight, and the .NET framework. Additionally, we issued an advisory for multiple vulnerabilities in Adobe Shockwave Player and Adobe Flash Player, and an advisory for a vulnerability in PHP 5.4.1. Organizations and users are advised to update and apply all appropriate vendor security patches to vulnerable systems and to continue to update their antivirus signatures daily. Another line of defense includes user awareness training regarding the threats posed by attachments and hypertext links contained in emails especially from un-trusted sources.
