Marcus J. Ranum
Marcus J. Ranum, Chief Security Officer of Tenable Security, Inc.,
is a world-renowned expert on security system design and implementation.
Since the late 1980s, he has designed a number of groundbreaking
security products including the DEC SEAL, the TIS firewall toolkit,
the Gauntlet firewall, and NFR's Network Flight Recorder intrusion
detection system. He has been involved in every level of operations
of a security product business, from developer, to founder and CEO of
NFR. Marcus has served as a consultant to many FORTUNE 500 firms and
national governments, as well as serving as a guest lecturer and
instructor at numerous high-tech conferences. In 2001, he was awarded
the TISC "Clue" award for service to the security community, and
also
holds the ISSA lifetime achievement award. In 2005 he was awarded
Security Professional of the Year by Techno Security Conference.
Lance Spitzner
Mr. Spitzner is internationally recognized as a founder and leader in the
field of
cyber threat research. He invented and developed the concept of honeynets,
is the
author of the book "Honeypots: Tracking Hackers," co-author of "Know
Your Enemy:
2nd Edition," and has published over fifty security whitepapers and articles. He
is founder of the Honeynet Project, an international, non-profit security
research
organization that captures, analyzes, and shares information on cyber threats
at
no cost to the public. He has spoken for numerous organizations including
the NSA,
FIRST, the Pentagon, the FBI Academy, the President's Advisory Board, SANS,
the Navy War College, the British CESG, the Department of Justice, and
Monetary Authority of Singapore. He has consulted around the world,
primarily Europe, the Middle East, and
South East Asia. His work has been documented in the media such as CNN,
BBC, NPR, and Wall Street Journal. Before information security, Mr.
Spitzner served seven years in
the Army, four as an officer in the Army's Rapid Deployment Force. Mr.
Spitzner earned
a B.A. History from the University of Illinois-Champaign and an MBA from
the
University of Illinois-Chicago.
